TVF’s 1st Birthday Staff Interviews – Danielle
Remarkably we have already been open nearly a year and over that time we have developed a team who share their passion and love for the job, watched the clinic grow in success and enjoyed helping all our couples on their fertility journey.
To celebrate our 1st Birthday since opening our doors in 2017, we have asked some of our staff who were involved in the set up and growth of the clinic since its very beginning to describe their experiences in 10 questions….
Here is our another Q&A with Danielle Breen our Deputy Lab Manager (current lab lead during Dima’s maternity leave).
1. How did it feel to be part of the brand new TVF clinic just over a year ago?
Having worked for The Fertility Partnership for over 5 years ahead of the plans for TVF I was very excited to move across to the new clinic. I also grew up in the area so this added an extra special connection with the clinic being in my local area.
2. Describe your first thoughts on Day 1 when everything opened officially.
It was a relief, after all the months of validating and testing the lab equipment, preparing protocols and eagerly awaiting getting started I couldn’t wait to start treating patients.
3. Do you clearly recall the first patient who came to the clinic?
I remember how confident I felt with all of the patient’s in that first week, thinking good choice, we will do everything we can to make it work for you … and luckily that feeling hasn’t worn off.
4. What has been your most memorable moment here at TVF over the last year?
Holding our first baby! Nothing beats having a cuddle with the babies we have made, in that moment of holding an actual baby it really brings the job to life.
5. What has been the funniest moment?
Hmm this is tricky to pick just one – working with such a great team, who are ultimately friends means we share the highs and the lows with plenty of giggles along the way.
6. What is the best or favourite part about your job here at TVF?
The patients. I love working closely with our ladies and couples, getting to know them and being part of their fertility journey. And of course the biggest perk is when they come back with a baby to meet you 🙂
7. What has been your most challenging moment here at TVF?
Not being able to make it work for everyone – being a small team means we really get to know our patient’s, which means we feel the lows with them.
8. What part of your job is the least enjoyable?
Working in the lab it can be hard to not take it personally at times, the responsibility of growing and caring for peoples embryos and that feeling of professional as well as emotional commitment to making dreams come true. I know we are all doing the best we can, but it is just frustrating at times that we can’t be successful everytime.
9. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Aim for the moon and even if you miss you will have reached the stars.
10. Describe your time here at TVF in 3 words
Enlightening, Emotional & Enjoyable (do I get a bonus for my alliteration)
Special thanks, to Danielle for her answers.

Tomorrow we will hear from another one of the starting team at TVF.
